Principal, Dan Bowen owns and operates Dan Bowen Consulting Services Ltd. in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. Dan has a diverse background in project management, land development and road construction.

Having worked for the Ministry of Transportation for 30 years in the development approvals business, Dan switched over to the private sector in 2001. As a development consultant, completing over 100 subdivision projects, Dan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to a project.

"Most of the work I do now is in the rural areas of northern Vancouver Island and in the past 5 years my project team has focused on using sustainable concepts and incorporating them into proposals for rezoning applications and subdivision developments. I can say that I am a person that has worked in the beaurocratic system of red tape for 30 years and understand the process and know how to work through the system."

Dan is a member of the Comox Valley Naturalists and has participated in the spring and winter bird count in the Comox Valley for the past 20 years. As well, he has been a member of the Vancouver Island Paleontological Society for over 20 years, and the president for the past eight years.

Dan's paleontology experience has also provided a huge insight into the geology of Vancouver Island, as well as understanding the vast history of ancient life on Vancouver Island. In hisyounger years Dan was an avid hiker and mountain climber, having the good fortune to climb many of the mountains in Strathcona Park and outside the park.

Getting an early start in the love of outdoors and photography, Dan started oil painting danin 1986 and finds it a very satisfying hobby. Since that early beginning, he has continued painting in acrylics with several paintings going into print.

"I feel that based on my lifetime experiences involved with Vancouver Island flora, fauna and fossils, I can also provide a broader focus, and more sensitive approach on how land should be developed."
